Brixton's 1st Birthday Backyard BBQ

This was the spot that we'd be occupying for Brixton's 1st Birthday Backyard BBQ. I've never been to Ewa Beach Park before but I gotta tell you this is the prime spot if you're going to have a big party and you like bbq and going swimming at the beach. It's located all the way at the end of Ewa Beach before you hit Iriquois Point.

Dyson and Ike had gotten here at around 8:15am to reserve the spot. Good thing they did because by noon the park was full and there was no parking to be had. Good thing is that we had all the big trees to provide all the shade we would need throughout the day because it was a bright and hot one.

The usual SXA Chamorro Style BBQ Chicken

Dyson busted out the wok for the lumpia and empanadas.

This is Dyson's mom Auntie Lori deep frying the empanadas.

These buggahs couldn't cook fast enough!

I had to sample a couple before we let everyone eat otherwise this would be the last I'd see of this deep fried goodness.

SXA Chamorro Style BBQ Chicken pau and ready for grind!

Lori and Dyson reheating Jurdan's Chamorro style red rice.

If you haven't had Chamorro style red rice then you are missing out. It's similar to ganduli rice minus the pork and garbonzo beans. Usually there's olives, peas and some onions in there. I could eat this all by itself along with a cold beer and I'd be happy!

By now everyone had showed up and was ready to grind.

Here's the birthday boy Brixton (red) with his cousins Maverick and Diesel chillin' in the pool!

And here we have da braddahs playing a game of Podagee Horseshoes.

Just past the basketball courts was this beautiful Ewa Beach view. Ewa is pretty much where all the locals live and play. There's the occassional military resident but other than that it's all locals.

The birthday boy Brixton and his uncle Dillon aka "Turkey" wants to thank everyone for coming out and spending this beautiful day with them and their ohana! Aloooohhhaaaaa!!!
