Memorial Day BBQ @ White Plains

This past Memorial Day we went down to Barbers Point's White Plains beach to celebrate the holiday. My pops and Judy were in town from Phenix City, Alabama so we thought we'd show them how we do it local style with some good grinds at the beach with family and friends. Jeff, Nicole, Marlon, my pops, and I all marinated our own variations of BBQ. Ray and Heather later showed up with some bulgogi (Korean BBQ meat) but by then when we already tapping out from all the BBQ we ate earlier. Aside from our BBQ there were hundreds of tents everywhere doing up their own BBQ. I could only imagine the variety of what was on each and every one of their menus. This had to be the most people I've ever witnessed BBQ-ing at one time here. It looked like a tailgate at Aloha Stadium for a UH Football game. Being that it was Memorial Day our thoughts were with all the people who have made the ultimate sacrifice for our freedom as well as for family and friends who are no longer with us. This makes days like this much more appreciative and special. Stay tuned for our next Shakas x Alohas BBQ next week at Magic Island.

This is some chicken that I marinated in "Hawaiian Style" BBQ marinate which is more like a Korean marinade.

Here's the end result after I chopped up the chicken and added more marinade for the chicken to soak in.
