SXA Kapolei Backyard BBQ

This past Saturday SXA brought the BBQ setup from our backyard of the beach to the backyard of the Kapolei Skatepark. Along with Vans, Blue Hawaii Surf, and Eighty Four Skate Co. we sparked up the grill and rolled in the coolers for all the skateboarders and Kapolei Ohana. 18 pounds of chicken, 80 hamburgers, 100 hotdogs, and coolers fool of drinks pretty much took care of everyone who came out. Ben and Geoff from Vans did an excellent job of making the Kapolei BBQ BBQ a success. Also props to Kyle (Death Machine), Jeff (Medium Fits), Holo and Louie (Ciren Skateboards), and all who showed up to help us in making this a good time!

Vans Syndicate Party Los Angeles

Photos from a trip I took with Alf back a couple years for JJ's Vans party. Along with JJ was Mr. Cartoon, the WTAPS guys from Japan and a whole bunch of other dudes lurking. Pretty cool show art wise especially Mr. Cartoons stuff. Bunch of old bombs rolled up along with some 64's and then some of the Sinners as well. Alf and I got wasted that night and walked a couple miles back to our hotel at around 2 in the morning then woke up early and caught a flight back home to Hawaii.

Vans / Eighty Four Skate Co. / Fitted

This project has been a couple years in the making. Rene and Keola from Fitted Hawaii were throwing around the idea about possibly working together with Eighty Four Skate Co. and Vans on putting together a shoe. Not just your typical colab but something that we felt would represent the Kama'aina as well as Hawaii in general. The first version was vintage topless Hawaiian pinup girls. This was something that both Fitted and EFSC felt good about. When we brought the idea up to Vans they axed it due to the nudity all though it was in a tasteful manner. So a year or so goes by and Vans hit us up this time and asked if we were still interested in working on something. I went back to Ola and Rene and it was on. We chose the Era Pro because of the Era's timeless style as well as the full functionality of it being a shoe you could skate. Ola went through Fitteds' archive and chose one of their most iconic designs in the "Kala" aloha print. A couple years, alot of hurdles, and alot of patience and here it is. When the opportunity to work with an iconic brand like Vans comes along you put your best foot forward because opportunities like these don't come along very often. I hope you guys enjoy this!
