| For the longest time I kept telling myself I wouldn't print on black tees even though most of my tees are black. Here in Hawaii everyone wears black tees. This is why I only printed on white tees for the longest time. On top of that it's too hot to BBQ at the beach in a black tee. Since I don't actually sell my SXA tees in any shops here let alone to anyone other than friends, I figured it'd be ok to print up some black tees for all of you who have been asking online. Well here it is my friends! This colorway resembles the color of charcoal or the occasional burnt piece of chicken or ribs that's left unattended on the grill! Gifts from The Speed Merchant
Went out to check on the mail yesterday and found that there was a box from Brandon Holstein, Denver Dan, and Mark Kawakami of The Speed Merchant waiting for me! Stoked! Inside was some new The Speed Merchant gear and the latest issue of Hot Bike featuring Brawny's "Mako" and Chopper Dave's "Steel Shoe". I'd been wanting to get my hands on this issue for awhile but couldn't find it here in Hawaii. As always super proud to see Brawny a local boy from Mililani doing big things when it comes to building performance Harley's, Triumphs, and custom bikes! Mahalo Brawny, Dan, and Mark for the package I appreciate it very much!

Omiyage from Yuya
Received a package the other day from Yuya! He is part of Tsuyoshi Nishiyama's Felem Crew. Last year we did an SXA Backyard BBQ for them over at the Kapolei Skatepark and they were stoked! Mahalo Nui Loa Yuya for the chopsticks from Japan! I really appreciate it brother!

| It was nice to be able to do a last minute SXA BBQ without having to prepare days in advance. We talked about it over breakfast, went store fast kine, came home whipped more of a "Pupu Kine BBQ" and pau. Only thing we forgot was the mac salad I had made and forgot in the fridge. I think I wore myself and my short term memory out from the previous nights of cruising with El Yeti Mc Donald! |

Shakas x Alohas 2013 Memorable BBQ's
Now that were a couple of days into 2014 I've gotta say that 2013 was another great year for Shakas and Alohas. Our SXA Backyard BBQ's have really allowed us to get out there and hang out with some great people both here in Hawaii and abroad. This year we didn't even do one single BBQ at our beloved Magic Island but we more than made up with for it with the BBQ's we did have. We'll see where 2014 takes Shakas and Alohas and whose backyard we'll be BBQ'n at! Mahalo again for all of your support and encouragement! SXA "Loud Aloha" by Nelson Kanno
When I started doing Shakas x Alohas back in 2007 my goal was to figure out how to some day be able to share the local style BBQ experience in places that I wanted to travel to and with people I wanted spend time with. Five years later with the encouragement of my girlfriend Bev and the support of my amazing family and friends I've been able to do just that! Below are pics of a design done by my friend Nelson Kanno. Nelson is a local braddah from Mililani who moved to Long Beach in early 2000 to pursue his passion for motorcycles. By means of the internet and magazines I got to watch he and his friends influence a culture that was not yet established. I was super stoked and proud that here was a local boy doing what he was doing away from Hawaii and making an impact. These past couple of years I've got to spend time with Nelson and his ohana and friends and talk story over SXA BBQ. All I can tell you is that I'm really stoked to be doing exactly what I wanted to with SXA and I'm glad that I can share it with you and friends like Nelson.
